Hispanics and Healthcare Reform

There are still significant barriers accessing healthcare. While US Healthcare reform will provide greater access to health services, the poorest Americans, disproportionally represented by Hispanics will face challenges. According to Newsweek 8% will find it difficult to receive care "because the bill limits insurance options for new immigrants, both legal and illegal."

I am beginning watching the process of the healthcare reform vote in the House today and I am unable to to support this current form of the bill. It is unquestionable that reform is necessary. It is obvious that just as public education is a right of the American people so is a complete public health plan. But there a too many fundamental problems in this legislation.
